Ralliom & Mpeleng

A fairytale wedding in Muldersdrift for a happy couple with a large family…

Mpeleng was on her way home from Wits one Sunday afternoon when Ralliom approached her. He offered her a lift, she refused, he persisted – and the rest is history!

For the proposal Ralliom arranged for the engagement ring be hidden in the dessert at dinner at a restaurant. Mpeleng was a little suspicious. “The one waiter kept on asking if it was time yet and I could see something was about to go down. Ralliom was also getting uncomfortable. And then I found a beautiful ring in my pudding! He went on his knees, and I said ‘yes’.”

The couple both has a big families that loves having fun. They decided to make sure the wedding day was relaxed and everyone could dance and eat all day. The matrimonial service was outside in the beautiful gardens at Memoire Wedding and Function Venue in Muldersdrift. The venue is gorgeous, with running waterfalls and lots of birds and this added to the fairy tale theme. “We loved the furniture, the bridal suite, the chapel and the food. It was just perfect,” Mpeleng says. “The highlight was when I walked in accompanied by a saxophonist and the two families looked so happy. It was amazing!”

The couple chose not to have a formal list of speakers – they chose people to come up and speak spontaneously. “Everyone spoke from the heart and it was so special,” she says. “Acknowledging the elders in the family was also very important to us. We made sure that every elder from both families played their role as they would in a traditional wedding. By doing it that way, we felt comfortable that we received blessings from everyone.”

Mpeleng wanted to look like a queen on her wedding day. She decided on a dress that was different but also simple – a two-in-one mermaid dress that converted into a ballgown. Designer extraordinaire Orapaleng Modutle from OM Style Avenue created her dream gown; it was elegant perfection.

“I wouldn’t change anything about our wedding day. It was a beautiful experience. I could have another one if it was possible!

Wow, beautiful wedding this was. I thought it was only me, who had these ideas, but now you placed me at ease. I am on the right track.
