Nthabiseng & Katlego

A fairytale wedding in a magical setting…

The couple met at university, in 2009. Nthabiseng says “Katlego had been watching me for a while, but I didn’t even know he existed. Eventually met at our res bash – and the rest was history.”

Every year in September the couple go to Ballito to celebrate their birthdays. In 2015 on Nthabiseng’s birthday, they went for breakfast at a restaurant on a private beach. “We took a walk on the beach and our waitress took some photographs of us. Suddenly, Katlego went down on one knee and popped the question! On the same day, my mom received a letter from Katlego asking for my hand in marriage. So it was well planned – obviously I said yes!

“Our wedding day was a fairytale, everything was so well executed… It was definitely my dream wedding! It was beyond what I had imagined. Definitely a day to remember.”

The venue had a story attached. “We had paid a holding fee at another venue, and after a couple of months I had second thoughts about it, so we cancelled and forfeited that fee, “ Nthabiseng says. “Katlego was obviously not too happy about this, but we started our venue search again. Luckily, our photographer recommended Cradle Valley Guesthouse, and after seeing pictures of the venue, we were sold because it reflected our personalities – tranquil, reserved yet elegant.”

The decor was simple yet classy, a combination of Nthabiseng’s  favourite colours, pink and rose gold/gold. Nthabiseng wanted a fairytale wedding which involved looking like a princess, and she knew from the start that an Aline Ballgown would be perfect.

The couple said they wouldn’t change a thing about their wedding day. Nthabiseng’s highlight was walking down the aisle and having all the attention to herself. “And hearing my husband say his cheesy vows,” she laughs. For Katlego, it was “seeing my gorgeous wife walk down the aisle with a smile on her face.” Another highlight was “when all our guest got up to sing and praise to a song which lit up the hall. The song was Hallelujah Nkatekoby Joyous Celebration (Lihle’s Version).”

“It felt like we had made God proud. Because he created marriage. So when two people get married, I feel they make God happy” – Nthabiseng

Words of advice? “Take time to save and avoid going into debt for your wedding. Know what you want and do not settle or compromise. Plan well in advance so you won’t be stressed,” says Nthabiseng.

“Our wedding day was a fairytale, everything was so well executed… It was definitely my dream wedding! It was beyond what I had imagined. Definitely a day to remember”

I like the advice that Nthabiseng gives out,as I think a lot of people end up getting in debt to make a wedding day possible which is something that affects the marriage in the long run.

Your wedding was indeed a dream girl😍😍😍
