Venice: a hidden gem in the romantic city of canals

This unique getaway is so unreal that it feels as if you’ve just stepped into a movie set. Which is why we suggest the magnificent Palazzina Grassi in Venice as the perfect honeymoon destination…

Located on Venice’s famous Grand Canal, the magnificent Palazzina Grassi offers guests an intimate yet very unique experience. Charming and historic, it’s the place to go if you want to experience the grandeur of living like a true Venetian. It’s also private, luxurious and exquisitely designed thanks to famous designer Philippe Starcke. It’s a dream come true, a taste of Alice In Wonderlandwith a whimsical, modern, Venetian edge.

Interestingly enough, this unique hotel has no reception area. Instead, guests enjoy a personalised check-in – and that is the start of a bespoke experience that is unparalleled.  The three-story historic hotel still boasts its classical 16thcentury shell, but like a pearl, the experience and the interior is quite exquisite and decidedly unique.

There are just 26 guest rooms and suites, each exquisitely decorated in a blend of contemporary and romantic Venetian splendor. The furniture is unique, the glassworks by French artist Aristide Najean are dramatic and the collectors’ items in each space are sophisticated and decorative.

Your room is just your first experience of the magic that enfolds you at this magnificent hotel. Dining here is a separate delight. The Restaurant offers a luxurious gastronomic retreat, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Menus are carefully created to offer contemporary dishes and flavors as well as traditional Italian fare. The Krug Champagne Lounge is where guests escape to enjoy a cosy atmosphere and sip bubbly whilst savoring the surreal view of the Grand Canal lit up at night. This is one of only two Krug Lounges in the world, offering a magical atmosphere, luxury and elegance – and excellent champagne, of course.

When the weather’s good, guests head for The Terrace, a secret oasis with one of Venice’s most breathtaking views. Dinner is served here in the warmer months. Talking of food – at this fabulous Palazzina, breakfast is served till noon so that guests can sleep late if they wish, and there’s also a snack menu service available 24/7 for those who want to nibble any time of the day or night. Honeymoon heaven!

Called The Secret Hotel because it is a best-kept secret, Palazzina Grassi also features a nightclub, The Club, a popular spot for any night of the week, but also for special events. Perhaps because of the nightclub, or because it’s an ideal location for honeymooners, the hotel is quite happy to arrange late check-out – so that there’s no need to get up early.
